Anime North 2009: Of camera problems, autographs, pitiful gatherings and displaced mothers

So, Anime North was this weekend, and as awesome as always.

Friday, Dad <strike>amazngly if you know why</strike>dropped my mother and myself off, around noon-1:00. The three of us had lunch at Kelsey's before dad left. Afterwards, mom and I checked into our hotel (Radisson), blah blah blah, got our badges, blah blah blah. After we had dinner (Swiss Chalet), I went into the Dealer's Room (in the Toronto Congress Centre/TCC) and blew $100 @.@

Saikano, vol. 2, 3 and 5 (Now complete

Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (DVD), vol. 7. 8 and 10

Then, I left the Dealer's Room and proceeded to try and find the Autograph line. After being ran around in circles a couple times, I finally found it and <strike>abused my Mobility Access badge and</strike>got Vic Mignogna's autograph (He signed Junpei's page in the P3 Artbook XD).

Then I shot across the street to the DoubleTree (DT) to get Tara Platt & Yuri Lowenthal's (Vic, Tara and Yuri were all at 7pm), to find out it was a Q&A session. Anyway, I played the waiting game and after the Q&A, I got their autographs (Both signed the P3 box) and gave Yuri my GHS armband XD

Saturday was... interesting. The Gaia/Anime North Guild gathering (11am, outside of the TCC) was pitiful. I'm sorry, but it was. Also, it was first year without the Guild Pimp pic.

Last week, I gave mom my 2GB SD card for her camera, but at 11:45am, we come to find out all the "really nice" pictures she just took were not there. (Honestly, I'm thinking it's because I left 2 pics from my Sidekick on it. Now I know.) So, she went back to the hotel and told me she'd meet me in front of the TCC. I go in, look around and come back out, no mom. So, I run around, looking for her, both inside and outside the TCC. At 1, I say fuck it and tell Con-Aid (staff who help disabled con-goers), who said to wait. The checking inside and outside went on til about 4 when I finally decided to go back to the hotel, myself. Mom and I ran into each other. Turns out mom couldn't stand still and went all over, taking pics, then sat in front of Harvey's (between the TCC and the Radission) and waited for me -_-;;;;

However, at 2, I got Nobuyuki Hiyama's signature (He signed my Soul Calibur 4 case)

After the much-needed dinner (I had a headache because I hadn't eaten all day), we went back to the Dealer's Room, where I blew the rest of my money

Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE (DVD), vol. 9 and 12

Tenchi Universe complete DVD set

Then I ran to the DT, and went to the Random Discussion panel, which is just that -- Random. Good times and lots of laughs were had, including a story of Laura Bailey drunk off her rocker after a con, dragging a luggage cart up the stairs and proceeding to strip on it in front of everyone @.@ XD

Afterwards, mom and I went to Harvey's and had a snack.

Today, like any other AN Sunday, we left early, but to my surprise, Vic was in the lobby, so I hurried up and gave him my email. Would've liked to give Yuri it too, but eh I'll take what I can get.

Andy actually wrote something? Wow! >.>

I stopped in, a few days ago. The "joint" was pretty desolate. Only one employee was working, with hip-hop being pumped through the loud-speaker. Anyone could easily pass this off as a hole-in-the-wall, but I found it rather intimate in its atmosphere. The garden-like landscape was visible out the window, so I could see as day turned into night and back again.

She was dancing all alone, the stage lights illuminating her voluptuous figure. It would seem that I had arrived in a paradox; the place was dead, but that enabled me and her to have some quality one-on-one time. We talked for hours about our lives and what we do. I was quite intrigued when she told me that in addition to that job, she had just become a registered nurse.

The conversation lasted for hours, until she got off work. Afterwards, we went out dancing. Her curves flowed just as gracefully as before. But, in the brilliant sunlight, there was something very special about her. When the slow dance started, my heart stopped. Being close to her like that felt so euphoric.

Now, here I am, realizing that I’m falling for her. And hard.
-------------------------------------
As I summoned forth the dancer, the machines looked a tad confused. The dark embrace of the ribbons lit up the field with brilliant and vibrant sparks. As the sparks fluttered down from the night sky, more dancers appeared, fueled by the flames of passion. Being surrounded, you could sense the fear that was being given off by the machines. "BZZT! ...Help..."
